Keep Your Confidence

Hebrews 10:35-36 NIV

So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.

The word for confidence used here is: Pär-rā-sē'-ä meaning; all out-spokenness, i.e. frankness, bluntness, publicity; by implication, assurance:—bold, confidence, freely, openly, plainly. The writer is encouraging the believers to stay strong in their faith, to speak freely and not to loose confidence in their new found faith.

Have you ever been tempted to throw away your confidence?

When your world is upside down and life seems to be testing you it’s easy to begin to wander in your faith and let doubt take over. Let me encourage you today to keep you confidence. Guard it, protect it and strengthen it - a confident faith is just what you need in times of testing.

Here’s a few quick thoughts about confidence;

Confidence is more important than competence

It’s not about what you know it’s about who you know - heard that somewhere before? It’s true. Do not focus on how good you’ve been or smart you are, focus on the one the one who builds your confidence. Think on Jesus.

Philippians 1:6 ESV

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Confidence opens doors

A confident faith opens previously locked doors!

Hebrews 4:16 NIV

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Confidence is contagious

It impacts those around you, just think about Paul & Silas when they were locked away in prison.

Acts 16: 25 (TPT) Paul and Silas, undaunted, prayed in the middle of the night and sang songs of praise to God, while all the other prisoners listened to their worship.

Confidence flows from conviction

Confidence begins with a conviction. What is our conviction today? Can we really do all things?

Philippians 4:13 ESV / I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Confidence is tested in crisis

Confidence is like a muscle - the more you use it the stronger you get

Hebrews 10:35 (TPT) “So don’t lose your bold, courageous faith, for you are destined for a great reward!”

Confidence in self is never enough

The greatest mistake we could ever make is to think that our own strength is enough. Never be in any doubt, we need to build on the confidence that Jesus has given us!

Proverbs 3:6 ESV

In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Proverbs 3:25-26 (TPT)

You will not be subject to terror, for it will not terrify you.
Nor will the disrespectful be able to push you aside,
because God is your confidence in times of crisis,
keeping your heart at rest in every situation.
