Worship Over Worry

It’s easy to worship God and to be thankful when we wake up in the morning to the sun shining bright, the smell of coffee (or a fresh-out-of-the-oven croissant, in my case!) and knowing that everything is well in the world.

I mean, in such perfect conditions, isn’t worshipping God the first thing you want to do? It surely is for me! Let’s be honest, though, how many perfect days do you have in a month? Or even in a week?

We are living in uncertain days, where much is changing in our daily lives. Most of us are worried about the future and in such circumstances, the conventional response is to feel anxious and to speak negative words into our lives and our families. This, of all times, is precisely when we need to worship God harder and louder than ever.  It may not be the most natural response, but it certainly is the most effective one.

Here’s the good news:

God doesn’t change, ever. He always remains the same.

Always loving, always King, always faithful, always present.

Regardless of where our heart stands - in crisis, tension or anxiety - we can still approach Him and bring our worship to him.

I wonder if this is what Jesus meant when he said to the woman at the well that “true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him”. John 4:23

We can worship God at the mountain top as much as when we find ourselves at the bottom of the valley. This is the very essence of worship: to bring him our gratitude and our praise when everything is wonderful, to bring him our troubled and fragile souls when things don’t go so well, knowing that we can trust him with our hearts.

Try worshipping God today over worrying about the future, and see for yourself how it will change the atmosphere in your home!
